Credentials and Experience

ICAN-B has a team that consists of Board-Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral (BCBA-D), Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA), and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT). We are also a team that from top to bottom come from the communities we serve, which is why we can relate and understand the needs across different levels.

What is BCBA and BCBA-D

BCBA stands for Board Certified Behavior Analyst and BCBA-D stands for Board Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral Level. In order to obtain the certifications, an individual will have to meet a set of requirements created by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). BACB was originally formed in 1998 and it is a credentialing body for the field of behavior analysis. You can think of it as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the accounting field. BCBA is equivalent to that but in the ABA field. Although competencies and expertise vary among BCBAs, the certification informs you that this person has at least 1500 clinical hours in applying ABA concepts and strategies. Thus, when parents are looking for an ABA and autism service provider, it is a must to ensure that the organization has at least one BCBA on the staff roster to oversee their therapy and programs.

Data demonstrates that ICAN-B staff members grow professionally and clinically through the system. Performance evaluations are based on objective measures to ensure all staff members are provided with consistent feedback on a weekly and quarterly basis. Opportunities for Behavior Technicians to grow within ICAN-B is great. ICAN-B has had Behavior Technicians grow within the system to become BCBA supervisors. For Case Managers, ICAN-B has a system designed so that the Case Manager can be paired with a BCBA supervisor and be provided with consistent feedback.

For BCBA Supervisors, ICAN-B provides opportunities to work directly with Doctoral Level Behavior Analyst. The opportunity allows for BCBA supervisors to also learn to manage and supervisor Case Manager Supervisors. There are also telehealth opportunities in regions, which is an emerging service line in the field of ABA.
